The puppeteer
Mike Ojake lives and works in Berlin. Born in Nigeria, he's caught between the expectations of his family back home, the problems of survival of a black man in Berlin and the growing racism in Europe. Even though he graduated as a puppeteer and shadow theater actor in Bulgaria he lives a life in Berlin between social security and jobs as an extra in film productions. A small community of african friends in Berlin enables him to keep up his spirit. The Zimbabwean filmmaker Tsitsi Dangarembga has created a beautiful and intense portrait of an african artist in Berlin, who has few chances to produce his art.
